A total of 180,388 tourists visited Petra in January and February, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Suleiman Farajat said on Monday.
Farajat told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that he has great hopes for the site in 2023, citing the red-rose city's prominence on the tourist world map, as well as current hotel bookings and indicators.
He also expressed hope for this year’s tourism figures to surpass those of 2019, when the city welcomed 1.135 million visitors. Farajat said that US nationals topped the list of foreign visitors, followed by Italians, French and Germans.
